01✨ A NOTE ON CREATIVITY - SELF STORY BY LADY YACOUB

The power of imagination

I was born in a small town in Upper Egypt, by the side of the Nile. Each morning, my first sight was the river flowing gently, with the mountains casting shadows that softened the sunlight. My world was small—family members bound by a conservative culture, a language school with only a handful of students, and evenings spent in simple pleasures: reading books or walking along the Nile. Television was rare, almost absent, so imagination became my entertainment. My favorite hobby was collecting pictures from Porda magazine. With scissors and glue, I carefully cut and arranged them in a special notebook. Under the desk, with my little self hiding from the world, I would pore over those images and let my imagination unfold—visualizing dreams of meeting people from diverse backgrounds, each with their own identities, cultures, and styles of dress. Later, life carried me to Cairo. I had wished to study tourism, but my father, proud of my high scores, guided me toward the Faculty of Languages. That path eventually led me into multinational firms, where I encountered colleagues from across the globe. My observant nature revealed something profound: clothing and styling are more than fabric and form—they are identity, a language of self-expression. As I matured, I realized that while my journey had taken me far, my roots remained unshakable. My path was clear: to express identity through modest wear, infused with elegance. From that realization, a dream was born—to create a brand that embodies this spirit, a brand rooted in authenticity and nurtured by the heart.

02✂️ MAKE IT CONSERVATIVE: A STEP-BY-STEP TRANSFORMATION

Change it to modest and elegant

Transforming a modern dress or blouse into a conservative, elegant piece doesn’t mean losing its charm—it’s about redefining it with thoughtful details and craftsmanship. Here’s how to give your outfit a modest twist while keeping it stylish and unique: Step 1: Close the Gaps Start by sewing the skirt portion to eliminate any open slits or gaps. This simple adjustment instantly changes the silhouette, giving the piece a more refined and composed appearance. Think of it as sealing the elegance—subtle, yet powerful. Step 2: Add Graceful Length Next, sew a strip of delicate lace (like the one shown) along the hemline. This not only extends the length but also adds a touch of sophistication and texture. The lace detail transforms the outfit from everyday chic to timeless grace, creating a look that’s both conservative and captivating. With these two steps, your once-simple dress becomes a completely new creation—an ensemble that speaks of individuality, modesty, and style in perfect harmony.

A Journey Into the Art of Self-Dressing

Every morning, women perform a miracle. Daily dressing is not just about putting on clothes—it is a morning ritual that sets the tone for the day. Skin care, beauty routines, hair, fragrance—so many details to care about, and yet they are not burdens. They are part of the dialogue between a woman and herself. Dressing is not imitation; it is self-expression. It is the soul speaking through fabric, color, and silhouette. I always wondered what’s in getting ready and dressing up in the morning. How should that affect, even intimidate, the morning mood? Because it is not just about appearance—it is about energy, confidence, and the way you carry yourself into the day. When women understand themselves, when they know what they really want, they stop copying other women’s success stories. They stop chasing borrowed dreams. They begin to follow the idea that thrives from their own souls. I used to work with complex databases, filing, diving through data to get insights. It was logical, precise, and it led me to conclude that I would work as a consultant or analyst. I created my LinkedIn page, tried proofing cases, wore the armor of professionalism. But deep inside, as a daydreamer, a collector of fashion outfit photos, I always dreamed of working for a fashion magazine like in The Devil Wears Prada. Numbers gave me clarity, but fashion gave me breath. And yet, I felt emptiness. So I created my own platform. Even if nobody was watching or reading, I wrote. I curated. I dreamed. And in that act, there was no more burnout. Because fashion, for me, was not about audience—it was about authenticity. It was about honoring the part of myself that databases could never feed. Women must understand themselves because imitation is exhausting. It drains the spirit. But when you dress from your soul, when you choose your routines and your outfits as extensions of your truth, you are no longer performing—you are living. And that is the essence of fashion: not the clothes themselves, but the courage to wear your own story
